The majority of our households expect Baby Jesus on Christmas Day. However, his image is influenced by global marketing, and our local traditional gift-giver IS losing a battle against his competition. I was thinking about how Czech people and children imagine Baby Jesus.

Today, we will answer what Baby Jesus probably looks like. Let’s get into that!

I was looking for some answers on the internet about how children actually imagine Baby Jesus.

Six-year-old Anička receives gifts from Baby Jesus. „He’s a little boy. Maybe with blond hair. He wears such a rag, like blue and white.“ 

„How does he deliver gifts? He must be careful because he is very small and he has to carry all the presents“.

Nine-year-old children from the fourth grade in Úvaly imagine Baby Jesus as an adult man. 

One of them said: „Baby Jesus should actually have a hat and have a sleigh with six reindeer.“ 

When asked who brings presents, another child said „In our house, both Baby Jesus and adults. I imagine Baby Jesus as an invisible man with a white cloak. Sometimes he resembles St. Nicholas or Santa Claus. I imagine him having a beard and a hat.“

Another child answered: „I imagine him as if he were small and had bigger helpers than he is. He already walks. Otherwise, he couldn’t tell the elves what gifts to have. He is the same as Santa Claus, just smaller.“

So you can see there are a lot of different views. Someone sees him as a small baby and someone imagines him looking the same as Santa Claus. It is interesting.

I was thinking how I was imagining Baby Jesus. But it is hard to say. I don’t even remember. I think I imagined a small baby in the beginning and later someone similar to Santa Claus. And what about you? Send me a message about your imagination of Baby Jesus, I am curious!
